Girls Rock Post-Ride Fun!

All Girls Rock, but Who are the Girls Rock of Santa Cruz?

On March 23rd, the Girls Rock Santa Cruz Mountain Bikers started and ended their monthly ride at our amazing neighbor, Patagonia, on River Street. Girls Rock mission is to “inspire Bay Area women mountain bikers with rides and resources that are supportive, social, fun and confidence building.” They promote women’s opportunities to get involved in a healthy, friendly, and active way. This also nurtures their skills too. Not to mention it expands the community of women they know! Girls Rock is inclusive to all, and they urge women of all skill level to participate.  There aren’t fees or long-term commitments. All the organization asks is for women to show up and ride when they can or when they want! Could this be your next adventure? Sounds pretty fun, doesn’t it?

How were we involved?

CORE partnered with Patagonia to give Girls Rock some well deserved post-ride services. There’s no doubt that long bike rides are tiring! Needless to say, it was a great day to be outside.  We set up on Patagonia’s very welcoming deck and greeted the bikers as they returned. They had the option of stopping by Patagonia’s delightful displays of refreshments and delicious food options as well as our wellness booth. It was a unique experience for riders because there were multiple practitioners available.

We offered chair massage with massage therapists, Juan Alvizar and Maria Bonuccelli.  We also offered functional movement screenings or injury assessments with the personal trainer, Crystal DeClercq. Sometimes it can be easy to forget how much bodies really do need a little extra TLC. CORE is proud to offer services that support continued participation in active communities. All in all, it was a great place to be on a sunny Saturday afternoon!
