CORE Participates in Museum Family Game Day!
On Sunday, July 21st, the Santa Cruz Museum of Art + History, hosted its regularly scheduled public event. Every Sunday during the summer, there is a themed family day activity at Abbott Square. The theme for this past weekend revolved around health, fitness, and staying active as a family. This is why it was a great opportunity for a CORE Obstacle Course collaboration. These events are open to all for a fee and are free to all museum members.
Oh, What Fun did the MAH Provide!
The museum had activities to offer such as a hula-hoop contest, ga-ga dodgeball, and four square. MAH interns were enthusiastic and ready to teach people how to play. Abbott Square is such a great place to have an event on a Sunday afternoon because it’s in a central location and there are great food places and drinks in the market- not to mention the museum is attached to it. With the entrance to the family day, people also have access to the museum with three levels of interactive galleries. It’s a space where there is something for everyone!
Test your strength, stamina, and stability with the CORE Team!
The CORE team, including personal trainers, massage therapists, and wellness consultants created CORE’S obstacle course atmosphere. CORE had three mini stations with challenges for kids and parents to try. One station involved a cones course and trying to hop on foot in a zig-zag pattern through the cones. The second station was to see how many times a person could jump rope in 1-minute timed. The third, and final challenge, was to lay on the yoga mat in the “superman” pose and see how many seconds you could hold it for.
Each child that tested out the CORE obstacle course received an awesome CORE Challenge Winner Badge. In addition to the CORE obstacle course, there were CORE massage therapists offering free chair massage! CORE created challenges that were inclusive to all abilities and to teach kids and parents fun ways to stay healthy and engaged.
