Shanty Shack Brewing Event

Chair Massage, Beer, Dogs, and Live Music: What more could you want on a Friday night?

On April 12th, 2019 CORE partnered with Shanty Shack Brewing by providing free chair massages. CORE’s booth was in a cozy corner next to the fire pit outside. The weather was phenomenal! CORE showcased Allen Harder’s integrative holistic approach to massage. Most people came to the booth for some work-related stress-relief. Visitors also learned techniques on pain alleviation through stretches at home.

In addition to our services, customers enjoyed an array of beers and food. Some of the bites include sandwiches, salads, and sausages!  The Swirly Girls played live music on the small but mighty stage inside. The family band offered a “mix of originals, [and] Americana & International tunes…”  Their instruments included “bass, guitar, ukulele, dobro, washboard & harmonica.” And don’t worry, the brewery is a dog-friendly place with lots of space for your furry friend to hang out. Shanty Shack even took it a step further by making dog treats available for purchase as well.

The Story Behind the Shanty Shack!

Shanty Shack Brewing was created by co-owners Brandon Padilla & Nathan Van Zandt.  The brewery was transformed from a warehouse, and it is best described as “a space full of vibrant art, local music, and a community of people.”

But where did the name come from?

Nathan lived in an old shack on Chanticleer Avenue, the “Chanti Shack,” where they first started to brew their beer. Brandon “lived in a run-down church on Pennsylvania Avenue which was coined ‘The Beer Church.’ ” From there, they threw parties to “showcase their beer,” made home deliveries to customers, and catered weddings. “What started as a hobby swiftly grew into a business”-and a very successful one!
