An Eco-Friendly Dream!
On April 6th, the sun was shining, and it was the perfect day to explore our cozy beach town. People flocked from all over California to participate in the very first Santa Cruz Veg Fest! There were over 75 exhibitors set up at the Coconut Grove above the Boardwalk. What a great location to have an event-close to the beach and the iconic Boardwalk rides and games. The event brought “the local community together to celebrate and learn about a plant-based, cruelty-free, and environmentally-sustainable lifestyle.”
So much to see, eat, and do!
Some of the main features of the event included kid’s activities such as ways to reuse strawberry containers for art projects led by the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History. Other’s included food exhibitors (with amazing free samples) such as Vixen Kitchen and Whalebird Kombucha. There were even cruelty-free fashion and beauty exhibitors like Threads for Love and Harji Naturals.
Not to mention, there were plenty of opportunities to get involved with non-profit organizations! Some of these included the Center for Animal Protection & Education and Food Empowerment Project. Veg Fest even went a step further to promote eco-friendly forms of transportation such as walking, renting a Jump Bike, taking Lyft, riding the bus, or even just carpooling.
The event also had keynote speakers on various topics relating to veganism, plant-based diets, climate change, Ayurveda, fasting, and more! Additionally, different musical groups performed throughout the day. Needless to say, there was something happening in every room.
Promoting Wellness
CORE’s main role in Veg Fest was to offer services that aid sustainable & healthy lifestyles. We offered demos for chair massage, chirotherapy assessments with Dr. Rhodes Walton D.C., ear seeding, pulse reading. We also had demos on how to use a Theracane with one of the personal trainers! It was such a unique event for CORE because we were the only integrative wellness booth offering these services. The event was packed the entire day, and many people came to us to escape the lines and enjoy a little relaxation. Thanks, Santa Cruz Veg Fest for a great experience!
