Mountain Bikers & Old Cabin Classic

For the past four years, the Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz have held a cross country bike race. The location of the event is at an outdoor venue at Wilder State Ranch. Although the weather can be breezy at times, it did not keep the bikers from enjoying the race and the expo that followed.

Old Cabin Classic at the Old Dairy Ranch

Wilder State Ranch encompasses over 7,000 acres from Ben Lomond all the way to the seashore.  Additionally, its rustic charm transports people into early dairy ranch history. Furthermore, the Victorian farmhouse, picnic tables out back, and even an old water-powered machine help to characterize the event space.

What & Who are the MBOSC?

Well, the Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz, or rather, MBOSC established itself in 1997 to support and grow mountain biking in Santa Cruz.  The MBOSC makes up of various people working to create legal and sustainable mountain biking. There are “recreational riders, trail builders,  racers, bike industry professionals, and general mountain bike enthusiasts.”

Moreover, the Old Cabin Classic event illustrates a “partnership between California State Parks and the mountain bike community.” They work together to preserve and provide the best trails.  In return, the MBOSC donates a large number of its proceeds back to Wilder Ranch to help make this happen.

Post-Race EXPO!

Santa Cruz CORE offers racers and guests some post-event fun with expertise from wellness consultants and chair massage with practitioners. Massage therapists bring relaxation to the table and visitors were able to treat themselves to some self-care. It was a special event because CORE provided people with optimal health services in a state park revolved around being healthy and active. Other highlights of the event include live music from Jesse Daniel, a display of vintage bikes,  and a kid’s bike rodeo!
