Mermaids exist! And they not only swim, they bike and run as well!
Last weekend we participated as vendors in the All-Women 2014 Mermaid Triathlon & Duathlon in Capitola village. This is such a great event filled with pink tutus, pink swim caps, pink tennis shoes, big smiles, positive attitudes, and a huge crowd of family and friends cheering on their loved ones.
For some it was just another fun day of goods sportsmanship and for others it was their very first tri. We do a lot of events and really love being a part of one that is so empowering to women of all ages.
Not only was the energy incredible, but it was a gorgeous sunny day and the beach was full of people and they waves were great! Overall, one of the best days we’ve seen in a while and a perfect day for this event.
Santa Cruz Core Fitness + Rehab was on hand providing mermaid massage, ear acupressure, and foam rolling to the awesome athletes. Helping athletes recover and prevent injury is something we love to do. Post race it is important to flush the lactic acid out of the muscles to decrease recovery time and massage. Foam rolling also helps to keep the muscles supple and release tension that builds up during intense exercise. Keeping our fellow triathletes flexible can improve athletic performance and enjoying healthy competition is what we like best!
Santa Cruz CORE treated over 50 women throughout the day and also helped staff the aid stations providing water and positive vibes to the ladies on their long journey through the beautiful little town of Capitola, Ca.
It’s truly inspiring to watch these women compete every year, and we can’t wait to be involved again in 2015!
