Platelet-Rich Plasma, PRP
Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) prolotherapy injections are amongst the most effect regenerative treatments. PRP not only repairs soft tissue like tendons and ligaments, but dermal (skin) tissue as well. The injection of a platelet/plasma solution triggers the inflammation healing cascade and elicits repair.
Platelets are little pockets of fluid that release signal molecules to stimulate healing. Signal molecules released include cytokines and other growth factors, they recruit repair mechanism to the area. Platelets are activated by contact with injured tissue- which serves as the initial trigger and begins the healing cascade.
